For more than three decades, Adventure High has been helping people discover the beauty, character, and wildness of Grand Manan Island.
Founded in 1989 with just five kayaks, Adventure High began with a simple idea: create memorable outdoor experiences that allow people to connect with nature, explore the coast, and experience the unique character of Grand Manan.
Over the years, that small beginning has grown into a well-established island adventure company, offering sea kayaking, waterfront accommodations, and unique opportunities to experience this remarkable part of the Bay of Fundy.
Our growth has always been made possible by the people who have been part of the Adventure High family. From our staff and guides to our loyal guests and supporters, we are grateful to everyone who has helped shape our story.
Grand Manan — Our Home, Your Adventure
There are few places quite like Grand Manan.
Surrounded by the powerful waters of the Bay of Fundy, the island is a place of dramatic coastlines, secluded coves, sea cliffs, forests, beaches, wildlife, and spectacular sunsets. It is an ideal setting for adventure—and an even better place to slow down and appreciate the natural world.
At Adventure High, we believe the best way to experience Grand Manan is to get outside and become part of it.
Whether you’re exploring the coastline by sea kayak, discovering the island by bicycle, or relaxing in one of our waterfront accommodations, there is always another view, another trail, another stretch of coastline, or another adventure waiting to be discovered.
More Than Just an Adventure Company
Over the years, Adventure High has continued to evolve.
What began with five kayaks eventually grew to a fleet of more than 20 kayaks and a fleet of bicycles. We have built and renovated cottages and developed unique accommodations designed to give visitors an opportunity to experience the island in a more personal way.
In 2013, we added another important chapter to the Adventure High story when we acquired the Compass Rose Heritage Inn and Dining Room. This allowed us to bring together two things we love: adventure and hospitality.
Today, our goal remains the same—to provide visitors with an authentic Grand Manan experience, both on the water and on land.

Our adventures take place in some of the most fascinating coastal environments in the world.

It’s about paddling quietly along a rocky shoreline, watching seabirds overhead, feeling the movement of the Bay of Fundy beneath your kayak, discovering a secluded beach, or simply sitting back and taking in a view that you can’t experience anywhere else.

Adventure High has always been a family business, and that personal connection remains an important part of who we are.
Over the years, our family has grown alongside the business. Our children have worked here, learned from the experience, and become part of the many seasons that have shaped Adventure High.
Running a small island business isn’t always easy. There are long days, unpredictable weather, changing seasons, and plenty of challenges along the way.
But there are also incredible rewards—meeting people from around the world, sharing a place we love, watching guests experience something new, and knowing that we have helped create memories that will stay with them long after they leave Grand Manan.

We are proud of that recognition, but the greatest reward continues to be the feedback we receive from the people who visit us.
Our guests have taught us a great deal over the years, and their enthusiasm, suggestions, and continued support have helped us grow and improve.
Looking Toward
the Future
After more than 35 years, we are still exploring, still learning, and still looking for new ways to share Grand Manan with our guests.
The equipment may have changed. The business has grown. New adventures and accommodations have been added.
But the heart of Adventure High hasn’t changed.
We are still passionate about this island. We still believe in personal service. And we still love introducing people to the incredible natural beauty of Grand Manan.
