Calling all artists! Come learn in our outdoor studio - Grand Manan Island in the Bay of Fundy is a long-time paradise for painters and paddlers alike. You will receive individual instruction and group demonstrations to acquire the skills necessary to improve and develop your style and technique in painting, sketching and kayaking. We will be balancing sea kayaking and painting while on your way to remote locations. This is a camping-based sea kayak adventure with great meals and
breathtaking scenery that can only be seen from a kayak! Come along with Barry Coombs and our kayak instructors as they guide you in sketching, painting and paddling in the world's most spectacular playground. Artists working in any media and all skill levels are welcome although some experience would be an asset. Historic fishing villages, beautiful coastal scenery and lighthouses are only some of the stimulating subjects for sketching and painting.
Barry Coombs is a Toronto-based visual artist and art instructor. Barry's teaching focuses on watercolour painting and pen and ink drawing. He is a dynamic teacher with a special gift for enabling students to develop their own styles. With his positive and constructive attitude and ability to work with students of all levels of skill and experience he will bring out the best in you. Barry brings almost twenty years of experience to outdoor painting and sketching workshops in Atlantic Canada, France, Italy and Mexico. He has been teaching on Grand Manan for many years.

Through the eye of the camera, exercise your creativity with Alison Hughes. Discover photography from a whole new perspective in a sea kayak! This 3-day workshop will take you and your camera into Grand Manan's spectacular coastal scenery for a totally amazing shooting experience. Photograph seals, seabirds and lighthouses from water-level and then capture exciting images of natural and human history as you visit and camp on intriguing offshore islands in search of the perfect picture!
Strap on your camera! This hands-on, outdoor photography workshop will focus on learning by doing. We start the workshop by creating splash-proof camera housings and ensuring that all your gear is safely protected. Throughout the trip there will be sessions on image composition, exposure, and lenses and filters. Experiment with new techniques, focusing on ways to make your images capture the spirit of natural places. All experience levels are welcome, from beginners seeking photography basics to veteran photographers in search of different visual scenes.
Alison Hughes is a professional photographer and writer based on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay, in coastal New Brunswick. Previously a studio photographer and photojournalist, Alison now focuses on outdoor adventure and nature images taken from sea kayaks and canoes. Her photographs and stories have been featured in magazines and newspapers throughout Canada and the United States, including Canoe & Kayak, Saltscapes, the Ottawa Citizen and the Vancouver Sun. Alison's book, Paddling in Paradise: Sea Kayaking Adventures in Atlantic Canada (Goose Lane Editions), was a finalist for the American 2003 Independent Publisher Book Award in the Travel-Guidebook category and is now in its second printing.

Pedal-Paddle Adventure!
5-Day Kayaking/Cycling all inclusive tour

Want a sea and land adventure together? No problem. Our Pedal-Paddle Tour is designed to offer both sea kayaking and cycling. We will customize the tour to meet your needs. For example, you may wish to embark on a sea kayaking voyage, island hopping around Grand Manan for three days, and then exchange your kayaks for bikes and pedal over coastal trails and through quaint fishing villages, stopping along the way to talk to fisherman on the warf or to take a picture of an osprey flying overhead or to capture the mood as you lay on the sandy beach examining sea shells.

Fall Foliage Tour (3 days)
Departures: Late September through Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Call for dates
Cost: $525
New Brunswick is the picture province of Canada - especially in early October when the blue of the ocean and sky meets the reds and rusts of the foliage. With a bright sun and crisp air we set out on the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend for our last tour of the season. Join us in celebrating this magnificent time of year. For three days and two nights we can paddle along the 300 foot cliffs of Grand Manan, visit the crystal cliffs of White Head, camp on a different island each night and scavenge some isolated coves and beaches that are reachable only by water. If camping sounds too cold for you this time of year, we will be happy to arrange B&B accommodation for you instead.

"Learn and Explore" Kids Week Tour (5 days)

Find a pet rock, pick some periwinkles, race with a seal! Much more than just a summer camp, Adventure High Sea Kayaking will teach and challenge young paddlers to see the natural world and themselves in a new and exciting light. Having fun is the name of the game! Kids learn about sea kayaking, hiking, camping, exploring, sea life, and leadership skills. We feel that it takes a special person to deal with this youngsters and teens so our staff are specifically chosen with appropriate expertise. Ages: 10-15 years, co-ed. Programs are geared to both beginners and intermediates.

Your own individually customized "Development Through Adventure" program begins with consultation about your groups needs.
