Through the eye of the camera, exercise your creativity with Alison Hughes. We will discover photography from a whole new perspective in a sea kayak! This 3 day workshop will take you and your camera into Grand Manan's spectacular coastal scenery for a totally amazing shooting experience. Photograph seals, seabirds and lighthouses from water-level and then capture exciting images of natural and human history as you visit and camp on intriguing offshore islands in search of the perfect picture!

With this hands-on, outdoor photography we will focus on learning by doing; so strap on your camera and we will experiment

with new techniques and create images that capture a sense of place. We start the workshop by creating splash-proof camera housings and ensuring that all your gear is safely protected. Throughout the trip there will be sessions on image composition, exposure, lenses and filters, focusing on ways to make your images capture the spirit of natural places. Alison Hughes is a professional photographer and writer based on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay, in coastal New Brunswick. Previously a studio photographer and photojournalist, Alison now focuses on outdoor adventure and nature images taken from sea kayaks and canoes. Her photographs and stories have been featured in magazines and newspapers throughout Canada and the United States, including Canoe & Kayak, Saltscapes, the Ottawa Citizen and the Vancouver Sun. Alison's book, Paddling in Paradise: Sea Kayaking Adventures in Atlantic Canada (Goose Lane Editions), was a finalist for the American 2003 Independent Publisher Book Award in the Travel-Guidebook category and is now in its second printing.

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED Adventure High's qualified guides will teach you the basic strokes and make sure you enjoy a safe comfortable trip.- All you need is just a desire for fun and excitement!

This three-day kayaking/carving workshop will give you a solid foundation in both carving and kayaking. You don't have to be a physical giant to handle woodcarving tools; it's all in the technique. Learning the fundamentals of carving is like watching a guide whose paddle stroke is both effortless and graceful. Carving can be effortless and graceful too! Skills will be taught by way of demonstrations

with lots of hands on. Design skills, knife skills, technique, art of seeing (maybe even a few trade secrets) will be some of what you could learn. You will whittle and paddle, creating treasures and memories that will last you a lifetime.

Gary Leclair has been an avid kayaker and knife carver for the past 30 years from his home in Val Therese, Ontario. His carvings have transformed seemingly lifeless pieces of wood into beautifully realistic likenesses of birds. Whether you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned pro, you will benefit from Gary's abilities - his fresh, creative teachings and special gift for enabling students to develop their own styles. His love of life and nature drives him to create delicate carvings, not only of birds but also walking sticks. He has been teaching carving for many years as well as workshops.
