We are very excited to introduce you to our latest cabin, the "post office", which is located in Seal Cove, Grand Manan. This cabin actually was the local post office, which served Seal Cove residents for several years. We have had the opportunity to renovate this property and it has now been converted into a 2 bedroom cottage.

Inside, the main room is large and consists of the kitchen at one end and living area at the other. The living room is cozy and has a sectional sofa that has a pull-out double bed and there is also a satellite television, dvd player and stereo. Patio doors open onto the deck, which overlooks the ocean creek and old smoke sheds. The deck has a barbeque and patio set, which consists of a table and 4 comfortable chairs, where you can enjoy the view and peace & quiet. The fully equipped kitchen has all the conveniences of home, including a microwave oven and coffee maker. The bathroom has a whirlpool tub, shower and composting toilet. The master bedroom has a double bed and also has patio doors that open onto the deck. The second bedroom has bunk beds - a single over double bed. Everything is provided that you will need, including linens, bedding, cooking utensils, etc. All you need to bring is your food and personal items.

Located at the "crick" in Seal Cove, the cabin overlooks the ocean creek with views of the ocean and old smoke sheds, where at one time many years ago was a bustling smoke herring industry, which is now designated as a Canadian historical site. It is also next to the Seal Cove sandbeach, which is actually sand (not rocks). As you walk along the beach in your bare feet you can look across at Wood Island, which is another location steeped in history. Many families in Seal Cove originate from Wood Island and there are still houses and the active church still standing. Every summer there is a reunion and people from all over the world come to attend. From the cabin you can also walk to the local 9-hole golf course and mini-putt, lots of fun for the adults and kids alike.

On the deck of the cabin, as you barbeque your favorite dinner you can sit and watch the ducks float by, while they hope you will feed them your leftover bread and crackers. Speaking of being fed, if you don't want to cook dinner, you are in luck as McLaughlin's Wharf Inn is next door and serve delicious homemade meals.

Seal Cove is located at the southern part of Grand Manan and is very picturesque. Seal Cove is one of the most photographed fishing communities in Atlantic Canada. As you drive down into Seal Cove you can see the whole village and in the center are the steeples of the 2 churches situated side by side. You may feel like you are stepping back to a simpler time as Seal Cove is a thriving fishing village and you can walk along the wharf and watch the fishing boats come in from a long day of fishing.

Take advantage of the many trails in the area, great for hiking or mountain biking. Also, there is a spot beside the cabin where you can launch your kayak, depending on our famous tides!
